Lakers’ Steve Nash Out For Season Due To Nerve Damage In Spine
2-time NBA MVP Steve Nash was looking forward to playing out this season and then going into retirement on a good note. Unfortunately, his season is over before it started, after it was revealed that he would miss the remainder of the season. The nerve issues in his lower back have proved too much to overcome.
Nash originally felt the pain during the preseason while carrying a bag onto the team bus. He missed all but 15 games last season due to a nerve root issue as well. Jeremy Lin will take Nash’s place in the starting lineup.
A pinched nerve occurs when there is a certain amount of pressure put on a nerve. This pressure may be the result of repetitive motions, or from holding your body in an undesirable position for a long period of time, such as sleep or traveling for a long period of time. With nerve compression, sometimes pain will be your only symptom, but here are a few other symptoms you may have:
- Numbness or a “tingling” feeling
- A burning sensation
- Pins and Needles
- Overall Weakness, especially during physical activity
